Help Protect our Frontline Food Workers

Canada’s food processing industry has become among the most dangerous places to work during the pandemic.

In spite of this, these facilities have been slow to equip employees with the personal protective equipment they need to work safely. And these companies have often refused to slow production lines to allow proper social distancing in the workplace.

As a result, the pandemic is spiralling out of control in many facilities, sickening hundreds at a time. The government is listening carefully to the needs of agricultural producers and food processors but ignoring workers and their representatives.

This shocking Globe and Mail exposé documents how the Cargill facility became one of Canada’s single largest outbreak.

Workers at numerous food production facilities across the country are infected. Yet there is no consistent approach to control these outbreaks. We need the people in our food industry to stay safe and healthy so they can keep producing.

Please show your support for our invisible heroes now.
